Oakville/Georgetown Music Lesson
Scholarship Program
The music scholarship program was created to provide music lessons
to children in Oakville and Georgetown Ontaro that cannot afford lessons
themselves.
Each one year scholarship includes a weekly music lesson on the
instrument of their choice and and ensemble practice (if applicable) at the
Academy of Music in Oakville or the Georgetown School of Music. All financial
support comes from the Oakville Celtic Fiddle Club, the Georgetown Celtic Fiddle
Orchestra, and the Academy of Music. A total of 6 scholarships per year will be
awarded to children between the ages of 8 and 14 years at a total cost of about
$6,700 for each season.
Qualified students will be chosen by Big Brothers / Big Sisters in
Oakville and Links to Care in Georgetown and will be expected to attend a
minimmum of 80% of their music lessons and ensembles.
